accurate description of Taoism (Tao Chia), the 'system' of which the Tao Te Ching is a major work. It must be said of the existing English translations, that most. The verses of the Tao Te Ching are written in ancient Chinese, which is very different from. English. Abstraction and logic are not distinguishing marks of the. Tao Te Ching. Not to govern a state by cleverness Is a blessing for the state.

These are the givens. To always understand the given, Is called mysterious virtue. Mysterious virtue is deep and profound. When things return to the given, it returns. And only then are things in complete accord. So they can command the hundred valleys. In order to command people You should be humble with them.

If you want to lead people You should follow behind. So the wise command the people But avoid being a burden. They go in front of the people But cause no obstruction.

Therefore the realm gladly upholds them, And never resents doing so. Because they do not contend No one in the realm contends with them. It is precisely because it is vast That it resembles nothing else. If it resembled something else How could it be anything but small?

I have three treasures I hold to and cherish. The first is compassion, The third is called not rashly Taking the lead in the realm. Being compassionate I can show courage, Being moderate I can be generous, Not rashly taking the lead I can command the officials. Courage without compassion, Going in front instead of behind, Is certain to end in destruction.

With compassion you will win in war And be impregnable in peace. Heaven will protect you With the gift of compassion. The greatest fighter is never angry. The best strategist never encounters the enemy.

The best employer of talent is humble. This is known as the power of non-contention. This is known as echoing the profundity of heaven. Doing that will lose me all my treasure. When two opponents encounter each other, The one that is most regretful will win. LXX My words are easy to understand And easy to put into practice, Yet no one can understand them Or put them into practice.

Words must have an origin And actions must have a guide. It is the rudimentary poetic structure of all ancient chinese poetic works…. So I think perhaps it is important to re examine your omissions of the 28 types of classical chinese ryhmes….

As the Tao says: You might say it is a complimentary text adding to the versions and translations already on the market.

For me the book is designed to do four things:. Many of the beautiful symbols in the Tao Te Ching are inaccessible to English readers, hence, many translations are filled with numerous endnotes. By studying the writings of many translated scholars on this subject, I was able to create both a unique and yet universal version of this text. Also, with the book being a complimentary text, it will be well referenced and so will provide the reader with a wide variety of other translations, scholars, textual and electronic sources.

However I would love to see the finished translation in Persian. Can you send me your contact details and I will send you my private email. Hello Arash i am Persian living in Iran too and i would love to read both english and persian translations! Having said that…. Best wishes CeciliaYu.Opaque, like muddy pools. Let me add your Persian translation to spread in my network.

That said, this version is written in modern, easy to understand English, which is so important, adding hopefully, a new type of historical text — a poem that contains its own commentary — elucidating with clarity the subtlety and profundity of this deep thinker, as well as clarifying his metaphysics for the English speaking world.

Your website should go viral. However I would love to see the finished translation in Persian. Different translations of the Tao Te Ching may appear as completely different texts.
